Graduation Criteria: To successfully graduate from the Doctoral Program (Plan 1),
a student must meet the following criteria as stipulated by the Walailak University Regulations (Chapter 11, Clause 47.1.3):
- Pass the Qualifying Examination to become eligible to conduct thesis research.
- Propose and complete a thesis through original research.
- Successfully pass the final oral defense, which is an open examination. The student must demonstrate the achievement of the program’s learning outcomes. The assessment will be based on the originality of the new knowledge contributed and a profound understanding of their own thesis.
- Have published research work that meets one of the following requirements:
- The thesis, or a part of it, has been published or accepted for publication in at least two international academic journal articles.
- OR The thesis, or a part of it, has been published or accepted for publication in at least one international academic journal article, AND has resulted in at least one innovative/creative work with demonstrable commercial, social, or economic utility, or has been granted at least one patent.
- Evaluation of Innovative Work: In cases involving an innovative or creative work, the work must be evaluated by a committee of at least three external experts in a relevant field and receive approval from the University Council.
